Wicked, or as he is lovingly referred to as, Junior, is the male we didn’t plan to keep. . . but we just had to. Since we still own Wicked’s dad, Petie, we really did not plan on keeping and showing a male from his litter of five. Well, so much for well laid plans. Everyday Wicked exudes confidence and the happy-going spirit his father, Petie, and grandfather, Teddy did. He is a joy to live with and to show. He has a profuse, lovely hard wheaten coat, dark shiny eyes, gorgeous topline and tailset, and a lovely mouth full of large strong teeth built to do the job a terrier was bred to do. In very limited showing in 2005, Junior was “Best in Sweepstakes” at the Potomac specialty under breeder judge Bitsy Armstrong (Annwood prefix) and he won the strong Bred by class at that specialty. He also won the large Open class at Montgomery that year including being named Reserve Winner’s Dog under breeder judge Mildred Bryant. Wicked is quickly getting noticed and beating specials along the way to his American championship. On a whim just to get him out, Wicked ended up winning his Canadian championship in two weekends in the spring of 2005. Remarkably, he was unbeaten by another Cairn in a series of seven shows on a competitive Canadian specialty weekend, including at the Rideau All-Terrier specialty show. He also was awarded several group placements at these shows going breed from the classes every single day. For us, he defines the word “keeper”— and he let us know that from the very start. Besides, we think everyone needs something so “Wicked” in their lives. |
